About
the Artist
My name is John Brusky. I am a mixed media artist working primarily with paint, canvas, metal, acquired objects, and wood. My art often places ordinary objects into roles that reflect my feelings about love, life, and faith. I enjoy incorporating puzzles, mazes, magic squares, and anagrams that encourage viewers to play with the pieces on multiple levels. I often repeat images from work to work, as memory is an important theme to me. Triangles, circles, and squares along with primary colors represent godliness and the trinity in a world where God is a creation of man or man is a creation of God. References to various artists in my work act as starting points that place known pieces into personal symbolic themes. Albrecht Durer, Leonardo da Vinci, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Jim Dine, Robert Indiana, and Rene Magritte are some of my catalysts, providing material inspiration for my visions.
